1. Acceptance of Terms

We are a reptile rescue and rehoming service in Southern Oregon, dedicated to providing a haven and a brighter future for unwanted, abandoned, or surrendered reptiles. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and the adoption process for our rescued reptiles. By accessing or using our website or adopting a reptile from Caveman Critters, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Scope of Services

Caveman Critters offers reptile rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming services in Southern Oregon. Our primary objective is to provide care and shelter to reptiles in need and ultimately find them suitable forever homes. We also conduct educational programs to raise awareness about reptile conservation.

3. Eligibility

To utilize our rescue services, you must be at least 18 or have parental consent. Individuals under 18 may participate in educational programs with parental or guardian supervision.

4. Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Rehoming:

Caveman Critters is dedicated to providing a safe haven and a brighter future for unwanted, abandoned, or surrendered reptiles. Our comprehensive rescue process ensures each animal receives the care it needs before finding a loving forever home.

4.1. Intake:

  • Surrender by Appointment: To ensure the safety and well-being of the reptile and our staff, we require all surrenders to be scheduled in advance. You can schedule a surrender appointment by calling us at 541-218-9334 or emailing us at CavemanCrittersGP@gmail.com.
  • Animal Transportation: If you are unable to transport the reptile to our facility, we can offer pick-up services within a reasonable distance, depending on our availability and resources.
  • Intake Information: During the surrender process, we will gather detailed information about the reptile, including its species, age (if known), any known health conditions, temperament, and reason for surrender. This information helps us assess its needs and develop an appropriate care plan.

4.2. Assessment:

  • Quarantine: Upon arrival at our facility, all new reptiles will undergo a mandatory quarantine period to prevent the potential spread of illness to other animals. Our staff will closely monitor the reptile’s health and behavior during quarantine.
  • Veterinary Examination: A licensed veterinarian will thoroughly examine every reptile with knowledge of caring for reptiles. At this examination, the animal’s general health will be evaluated, any underlying medical disorders will be found, and any necessary therapies will be decided.
  • Behavioral Assessment: Our staff will observe the reptile’s behavior to understand its temperament, activity level, and potential socialization needs. This information helps us determine the best placement for the animal in a future adoptive home.

4.3. Rehabilitation:

  • Medical Treatment: If the veterinarian identifies any medical conditions, the reptile will receive appropriate treatment, including medication, parasite control, or surgery, depending on the specific needs.
  • Nutritional Support: Our team will develop a customized feeding plan tailored to the reptile’s specific species and health requirements.
  • Habitat Enrichment: Our facility provides stimulating environments to promote the reptile’s physical and mental well-being. This may include appropriate substrate, climbing structures, hiding spots, and enrichment items specific to the species.

4.4. Rehoming:

  • Matching the Right Reptile with the Right Home: Once a reptile is deemed healthy and behaviorally stable, we will search for a suitable forever home. This involves matching the animal’s specific needs with a qualified adopter with the experience and resources to provide proper care.
  • Adoption Process: Potential adopters must complete an application form, undergo an approval process, and meet the chosen reptile to ensure compatibility.
  • Support for New Owners: We are committed to supporting our adopters throughout the lifetime of their new reptile companions. We offer educational resources and post-adoption advice and can answer new owners’ questions.

5. Adoption Process:

    1. Eligibility: Adopters must be at least 18 years old and reside near Southern Oregon to allow for potential post-adoption follow-up.

    2. Application: All potential adopters must complete an online adoption application form. This form will gather information about your experience with reptiles, housing setup, and overall ability to provide a suitable and enriching environment for the chosen animal.

    3. Review and Approval: Caveman Critters reserves the right to review and approve all adoption applications. We may request additional information or conduct reference checks to ensure responsible placement.

    4. Meeting the Reptile: Once your application is approved, you will be invited to meet the specific reptile you are interested in adopting. This allows you to assess compatibility and ask any questions you may have about the animal’s needs and temperament.

    5. Adoption Fee: A nonrefundable adoption fee will be required to cover the costs associated with the rescued reptile’s care, including medical examinations, rehabilitation, and proper housing before adoption. The specific adoption fee will vary depending on the species and the animal’s needs.

    6. Adoption Agreement: Upon adoption, you must sign an Adoption Agreement outlining your responsibilities as a new reptile owner. This agreement will include details regarding proper care, housing requirements, veterinary needs, and the commitment to providing a permanent, loving home for the adopted reptile.

    7. Home Visit (Optional): In some cases, Caveman Critters may require a pre-adoption home visit to assess your housing setup and ensure it meets the specific requirements of the chosen reptile

6. Donations and Fees

7. Legal Compliance

We adhere to all local, state, and federal laws governing reptiles’ rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming. Adopters are responsible for complying with applicable laws and regulations regarding reptile ownership.

8. Liability

While we take every precaution to ensure the safety and well-being of rescued reptiles, Caveman Critters cannot be held liable for any injury, illness, or damage caused by a rescued reptile post-adoption.

9. Health

While Caveman Critters strives to ensure the health of all our rescued reptiles through comprehensive veterinary care, we cannot guarantee their future health or longevity. Adopters acknowledge that reptiles can carry parasites or have underlying health conditions and accept full responsibility for future veterinary care needs. Caveman Critters will disclose any known health concerns with the reptile at the time of adoption.

10. Surrender

If, for any reason, you can no longer care for your adopted reptile, you must contact Caveman Critters immediately to discuss surrender options. We will work with you to find a suitable new home for the reptile within our network or through another reputable rescue organization. We will not accept surrenders of adopted reptiles to third parties.

11. Misrepresentation

Providing false or misleading information on the adoption application may result in the denial of adoption or the potential repossession of the adopted reptile. We reserve the right to verify any information provided on the application form.

12. Updates

We encourage adopters to provide periodic updates on the adopted reptile’s well-being, including photos and information about their new life. This helps us track the progress of our rescued animals and allows us to share success stories with our supporters.

13. Termination of Services

Caveman Critters reserves the right to refuse service or terminate assistance to individuals or organizations that violate these Terms and Conditions or engage in unethical or illegal activities.

14. Amendments

We reserve the right to alter or change these terms and conditions at any time. Any modifications will take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. You must check these terms for updates regularly.

You confirm that you have read, comprehended, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions using Caveman Critters’ rescue services.
